About Me

My name is Duncan and I’m a fully qualified ADI driving instructor.

With over 40 years driving experience of cars and motorcycles, I decided to change career to become a manual car Driving Instructor.

As an experienced motorcyclist as well I feel that I have extra skills to pass on to my students on top of my training and  qualifying  to become an ADI.

“My previous instructor made me nervous, and after failing first time I decided to try Duncan, so pleased I did, a lot calmer and more relaxed lessons, kept me in my comfort zone . Passed with just four faults.”

Based in Keelby

Please text me on 07821 164 154 or use the booking form to apply and I will do my best to accommodate you at a convenient time (weekends included).

” I would recommend Duncan to anyone, a lot of patience and got me through my test first time with just one Driver fault”

“My brother said he was good, pleased I took his advice and passed first time.”

Assessment lesson

An assessment lesson is just that, to assertain what knowledge and experience you may already have and assess your steering, observations, clutch and brake control etc.

An assessment is 60 minute long and costs just £20.00.

After that you can decide on whether you wish to have future lessons.

There is no guarantee I can accommodate you straight away as appointments are very dynamic.  For example my weekend slots maybe booked but I have a slot available mid week.

“A great instructor, I learnt valuable information from his experience as a motorcyclist like watching the wheel nuts!

Highly recommended”

Total Beginner?

No problem, you would still have an assessment of your apptitude and ability. On a first lesson there is quite a lot of paperwork and safety instruction to go through. This is why they are at a discounted rate.

Pricing Per Hour

Monday to Friday 9.00 – 5.00 £36.00 p/h

Outside normal weekly hours & Saturday £38.00 p/h

Sunday £40.00 p/h

The initial assessment/introduction lesson is discounted to £20.00 for 60 minutes.

Lessons are usually 90 minutes but 2 hour lessons can be accommodated. If you want to do intense learning then I can do two lessons per week [subject to availability].

Can I book lessons now?

That depends on the day, but if no slots are available then you will go in a queue. I do work weekends as well as in the week to provide a variety of available times.

Assessments are more available and booked as soon as possible, from there I inform you of what lesson slots are still free or estimate how long it may take to secure your slots.

Payments

Any lessons and assessments need to be paid at least three days in advance.

Until a payment is made, your booking is not confirmed.

This may sound harsh but the reality is if I have 4 lessons booked in a day who say they will pay on the day/in the car and three are “no shows”. i have lost most of my income for that day which cannot be replaced.
Cancellations must be made with 48 hours notice or a charge of 50% will be applied. 24 hours notice or less will not be refunded, unless discretion is applied.

Payments can be made by bank transfer or by card online. details of which will be given in response to your form completion.

How many Lessons a week should I have?

At least one 90 minute lesson a week, you can have up to two lessons a week of either 90 minutes or two hours if available.

Not everyone can do the same time every week but its important to have a regular pattern. for example week 1 – 9.00 -10.30, week 2, 1.30 – 3.00, week 3 back to 9.00 – 10.30.

What to expect on your assessment.

If you are a total beginner, do not panic, you won’t be overwhelmed. Regardless of experience from none to some, I will drive to a quiet area that has very little traffic. From there a conversation about your abilities will take place, then a run through of controls. Then in a methodical stress free approach to start the car and pull off.

Remember the car has dual controls that can be used if needed.

Resources

There are apps and books which will speed up your learning process.

The cost of these are generally less than the cost of one lesson so it is highly recommended you use some or all of them.
